Quilt Vs. Coverlet
Posted: Aug 27 2013
This is a question we receive from customers almost daily so I thought it would be great to address. What is the difference between a coverlet and a quilt? Generally, a coverlet is going to be thinner and have a little less pliable movement to it. Most people use a coverlet for either aesthetic purposes or to add as an extra layer of warmth over their current comforter. When you think of quilt your mind automatically runs to grandma's patchwork hand sewn cotton quilt which can be true but is not always the case. We like to think of quilts as a little more cozy and have more snuggle appeal than a coverlet. Most quilts are made of cotton, cotton blend, or silk and have more loftiness than a coverlet which enables them to wrap around and hug your body more. The preference is obviously up to the buyer, but depending on what you are searching for personally to meet your needs should help you decide which one to purchase. If you are just looking for an extra layer of warmth or something to cover the foot of your bed that looks nice then a coverlet might be the perfect choice. In the event that you want to be able to wrap up comfortably without having too much warmth of a comforter then a nice quilt would do the job just perfect.
